What is a Modified Customer Interface (MCI)?

A Modified Customer Interface (MCI) is a way of allowing Third-Party Providers (<a href="/glossarycollection/third-party-provider" style="color:#48277C;" target="_blank" title="Third-Party Provider"><u>TPP</u></a>) to access a Payment Service User's (<a href="/glossarycollection/payment-service-user" style="color:#48277C;" target="_blank" title="Payment Service User"><u>PSU</u></a>) account and is more secure than 'screen scraping'.<br/><br/>

In order to use the MCI, the TPP must be registered with their National Competent Authority (<a href="/glossarycollection/national-competent-authority" style="color:#48277C;" target="_blank" title="National Competent Authority"><u>NCA</u></a>) and must access the data via use of an Electronic Identification Authentication and Trust Service (<a href="/glossarycollection/electronic-identification%2C-authentication-and-trust-services." style="color:#48277C;" target="_blank" title="Electronic Identification Authentication and Trust Services"><u>EIDAS</u></a>) certificate.
