What are the most popular channels for utilising Open Banking?

The primary channels for accessing Open Banking are mobile apps and web browsers.

The original intention behind Open Banking was that customers would use a mobile banking application to authorise and authenticate their Open Banking services. This is largely still true although there are scenarios where the customer is exempted from user authorisation and authentication, (for example, contactless transactions and motorway toll payments etc).

Although the primary authentication mechanism is still the user's online banking app, this may change as we start to see 'Delegated Authentication' taking hold. This is where a bank delegates Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) to a Third-Party Provider (TPP) to perform on a bank's behalf.
